“The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
-Genesis 2:18
As a wife, being a helper for my husband is a two fold blessing. Not only does it make my husband happy because my help relieves some of his burden. But It also shows him how much I care and love him. And when he is feeling secure in knowing that, it blesses me as well.
It’s been a snowy winter thus far in western Pa., resulting in a lot of shoveling that needed to be done. This however, gave me the opportunity to be by my husbands side as his suitable helper.
There were a few times he tried to get me to stay in the house because it was so cold. But instead, I let him know we were in this together by being his helper. Even though this was a small task,my actions let him know I was by his side in the big and small storms of life.
My husband was extremely thankful for my help, and he expressed it several times. Not just for the physical help, (which he could’ve done without me) but because he saw my heart behind it. The moment my husband expressed his gratitude for my help, it became my blessing.
So remember whether your giving a gift, attention, or your help; being a cheerful giver not only blesses the receiver but also blesses the giver.
