I’ve been making these Anise Cookies for over 20 years now. Originally, I got the recipe from my sister-in-law who graciously gave it to me after loving hers. I say graciously because believe it or not, I’ve found over the years not everyone wants to share their recipes.
But it’s my pleasure to pass on my Anise Cookie Christmas Tradition with you. I hope you and your family enjoy them as much as our’s have over the years.
Jinny’s Anise Cookie Recipe
- 1 stick of margarine or butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbl spoon anise
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 cups of flour
Preheat over to 350 degrees
Melt butter. Then mix eggs, butter, sugar and anise in a large bowl. Add 1 cup of flour at a time.
Place teaspoon of batter on cookie sheet.
Cook 10 -15 until bottom of cookie is light brown.
Remove and put on rack to cool .
Icing:
- confectionary Sugar
- tbl spoon of anise
- add small amount of water at a time, until right consistency
- sprinkles
Once cookies are cool, dip top of cookie in anise icing. Let drip before placing it back on cookie sheet. Sprinkle immediately.
