Every Child

Every Child

I believe every child wants and needs to be heard. And one day because of a certain teacher from New England, the children in her class were able to let their heart’s desire be known.  However, I will come back to this after I tell you the background of my findings.

Last week I had an appointment at 9:30 at the dealership’s service center where I purchased my vehicle.  Shortly after I arrived, I was told the mechanic who was to finish my inspection would not be in until 11:00.  My frustration grew of the thought of having to sit there for a couple of hours when I had so many other commitments I had to keep that day.

Slowing Life Down

Lately, my life has been so busy and stress filled. But as I sat there with nothing to do, I remembered a prayer that I prayed a couple of days prior to this appointment. In the prayer, I asked the Lord if He would slow the business in my life down a little bit so I could relax, and just enjoy doing nothing.

When I began looking at my delayed appointment as an  answer to prayer, I was able to relax. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I began reading some of my emails which had been sitting in my inbox for days.

Teaching From The Heart

As I scrolled down through my emails, one click led to another, and before I knew it I was reading a blog titled “Our Wish Tree,” written by “Jennie“. She was the school teacher I mentioned earlier. Jennie has given the past 30 years of her life to serving children. I call it serving because I believe it to be a ministry. In my opinion, to be a caring teacher it is has to be more than just an occupation, it also has to be a calling that comes from the heart.

A Child In God’s Eyes

Besides my heart being touched by the act of kindness from Jennie;  another reason I wanted to share this blog was with the hope of making people more aware of the cares in a child’s heart, which are often overlooked.

Children are precious in the Lord’s eyes, and they should be to us also. He has created them with such unique qualities of  innocence and trust. They are unpretentious. And our Heavenly Father wants us to continue in that state in our relationship with Him and others as we grow.  He tells us so, in Matthew 18:1-5 it says;

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
 “He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.  And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

I know we all have time constraints but I hope you take the time to read “Our Wish Tree, and enjoy the blessings that flow from it.

For all of you teachers out there, I pray this blog will be an inspiration to you.  I pray it will help you to think outside the box for ways to make a difference in a child’s life, on a level they can understand.

  1. Thank you so much! Yes, children and teaching are my calling. Making a wish tree tells the child their thoughts are important. Children need to know that. They’re our future. And they need to be loved and heard.
