Are You Tired Of The Violence And Negative News You Hear On A Daily Bases?
In the world we live in today, we hear more bad news and controversy than good. On the contrary, imagine what the world would be like if there were more joy and peace throughout the year?
“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.‘
Luke 2:8-14
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.'”
Most of us are familiar with this verse from the Bible. After all, it is the main part of the Christmas story and is recited quite frequently this time of year.
What Would Your Reaction Be To Seeing Angels And The Glory Of God?
Take a moment and Imagine what it was like for the shepherds to see and speak to an angel. And to feel God’s presence from His glory that surrounded them. I think I would’ve fainted right then and there. But thankfully, God filled them with peace and calmed their fear through the angel, and His presence.
However, the part I want to focus on today is the angel saying “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people.” The news of a savior was not just for a certain period of time but for all time. Wouldn’t you agree, our world could use more joy and peace throughout the year and not just for a season?
What Kind Of News Brings You Great Joy?
But how do we accomplish the task of bringing more joy and peace to a chaotic, violent world? It is quite simple: The more we proclaim Jesus’ coming as good news, the more hope people will have for a better future.
You might ask, “what hope can Jesus give us for our future?” My answer will be: Whoever acknowledges they need a savior by putting their faith and trust in Jesus, will receive the gift of eternal life in heaven.
We will never have a world in complete peace, until Jesus returns. But the more knowledge people have of Him, the more people will invite Him into their hearts. And because of the presence of His Holy Spirit in our lives; it will produce the joy and peace our hearts, nation and world need.
So let your gift to those around you be joy and peace; by spreading the good news of Jesus all through the year.
