Laugh A Little

Laugh a little

Are you familiar with the importance of laughter? Continue reading to learn more on the physical, spiritual and mental health benefits laughter has in your life.

I read an article from ScientificAmerican.com; it talked about how research has indicated laughing with friends releases feel-good brain chemicals, which also relieves pain. The article stated “although little research has been done into why we laugh and what role it plays in our society, study researcher Robin Dunbar, of the University of Oxford, said: We think that it is the bonding effects of the endorphin rush that explain why laughter plays such an important role in our social lives.”

When I was in school, science and biology were the two subjects that always kept my interest, and I have the utmost respect for scientists. But what I find amazing is that the creator of the universe, the God who is wisdom and love, has told us these things in His word.

While the knowledge of science is good, we spend a lot of time and money on research of things God has known and has made known to us long ago.

It is actually science confirming God’s word.  Not God’s word confirming science,

Here are just a few scriptures that talk about a cheerful heart, rejoicing and gathering together;

Proverbs 17:22 (NIV) says:
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

The (CEV) translates it this way:
“If you are cheerful, you feel good;
if you are sad, you hurt all over.”

Psalm 118:24:
This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Acts 4:32:
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

Hebrews 10:24:
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 Samuel 18:1:
After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself.

There are many other verses in God’s word that talk about joy, gladness, thankfulness, being cheerful, and positive thinking. God also shows the importance of being together and getting along with each other. I am so thankful we serve a God who cares about our physical, mental, and spiritual health and that gives us guidance on how to keep each part of us healthy.

So in these trying times lets share some laughter with the people we love.
