Now that I’m in my fifties, I started replaying the reel to reel of my life in my mind. I’ve also asked myself questions like; “Have I made a difference in someone’s life? Has my life made more positive or negative impacts? Have my actions reflected my faith in the proper way?” I also question, “What kind of personal legacy will I leave behind for my family”
Definition of Legacy
One of the definitions of legacy from Merriam-Webster.com is
: Something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past
// the legacy of the ancient philosophers
// The war left a legacy of pain and suffering.
Dictionary.cambridge.org defines it as; “Something that is a result of events in the past.
New Perspective
Getting older definitely has its physical downfalls but it’s also given me a better perspective on life. Since I began asking myself these questions, I also began answering them too. While it would be nice to leave my loved ones a monetary gift, it wasn’t the kind of legacy I was concerned about. I determined, what was more important to me was leaving behind a life full of love and Jesus.
Touching Text
Last week my oldest daughter sent a group text which contained a song she asked us to listen to. A little while later she followed up with another text which read, “That song reminds me of Mom.”
As I listened to the words in the song, my heart became completely overwhelmed. I felt the truth of the words reflected my life, and it made me want to pursue Jesus even more.
My desire has always been to know and love God with all my heart. I want my life to display His love, and the gratitude I feel by sharing with people all He has done for me.
Desired Legacy
It would be the greatest honor to leave a legacy which would say of me; “She loved, trusted, and drew people to Jesus by reflecting Him through her life.
I encourage you to listen to the song by clicking on the title below. I hope you will be blessed by it, as I was.
“No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus”
If my heart could tell a story
If my life would sing a song
If I have a testimony
If I have anything at all
No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I’m old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found
Oh my joy, my joy
Let my children tell their children
Let this be their memory
That all my treasure was in heaven
And you were everything to me
No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I’m old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found
I’ve found my joy
I’m still in love
Your still enough for me
Still all I want
Your still my everything
I’m still in love
Your still enough for me
Still all I want
Your still my everything
No one ever cared for me like Jesus
His faithful hand has held me all this way
And when I’m old and grey
And all my days are numbered on the earth
Let it be known in you alone
My joy was found
“Lord I ask you to help me reflect your love to people through out the rest of my life.”
