Everything He made is beautiful
Have you ever asked the question,”did God always exist?
A couple of weeks ago at the end of our worship service, the leader began to pray. It’s a common practice in our church every week, before the pastor begins his sermon. However on this occasion, the ending words of the prayer hit me like an arrow pierced my heart.
I grew up in church since I was a child, and I was taught that God is the eternal creator. I never questioned it, and always believed it. Then why, when the worship leader ended his prayer with “God the uncreated” did it effect me so powerfully?
Those words “the uncreated” brought me to a moment of awe; as if I heard it for the first time. Think about it, forever ago God was and in a million years from now, He will still be.
Although, there are people in the world who believe differently. Some believe, the God of this universe had a creator. Unfortunately since creation, there has always been a spirit that strives to disprove the truth of God’s word. Thus far, it has been totally unsuccessful.
Reality is; everything around us, everything we see was created. Whether by human hands, or by the hands of God; it exists because of someone. On the contrary, we can not see with our eyes the almighty creator. This my friend is the definition of faith.
Definition Of Faith
Definition of faith according to the Oxford Languages Dictionary:
1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
Definition of faith according to the Bible:
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
-Hebrews 11:1-3
If it is true that the God of our universe has a creator, wouldn’t that all powerful deity provide proof of His existence? So the question remains, did God always exist?
Everyone is free to believe as they please. For me, I will continue to believe, have faith in, and be in awe of the creator of my existence.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him“.
